Northern Bank has partnered with a²om to sponsor the BTEC in Driving Science. The Bank’s support will enable every 16 year old (via their school) to have full access to both a²om mind and a²om highway free of charge. Northern Bank is also offering its Freedom and Discovery account holders a £100 discount off the normal price of £175 for the BTEC in Driving Science.

Starting in November 2009, our Schools Team will contact every school to find out how many software units are required and make the necessary arrangements to set up accounts for all 16 year old pupils.  If your school has not been contacted as yet, please contact us.

Using the Software

The pupil can either use the software in their own time or it can be incorporated into a Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE) class session.  Download an example of the e-learning software teachers guide.

The extra mile: BTEC in Driving Science

Our software programme has been designed to provide the essential basics for driver training.  Emphasis is placed on being both a responsible driver and passenger.  It is recommended that to gain the maximum benefit from the programme the pupils opt for the BTEC in Driving Science when they take to the road for in-car lessons.

The BTEC in Driving Science is an Edexcel accredited qualification, equivalent to a GCSE in level, and follows a curriculum based on the European Goals for Driving Education (GDE).  It is the most structured and thorough driver programme in the UK.
